The Heart Guild of Houston

Our purpose is to further the fundraising efforts of the American Heart Association through special events. The American Heart Association Guild (Guild), is a subtask force of the Houston Division of the American Heart Association, Texas Affiliate, Inc.

The American Heart Association (AHA) is the oldest and largest voluntary health agency dedicated to the fight against heart diseases and stroke. In 1924, a handful of pioneering physicians and social workers founded the AHA. Now, it has more than 22.5 million volunteers and supporters who work tirelessly to eliminate these diseases.

The AHA funds innovative research, fights for stronger public health policies and provides lifesaving tools and information to save and improve lives. The staff, volunteers and donors are fueled by the AHA’s mission to build healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke, the No. 1 and No. 5 killer of all Americans.

Here are just some ways the AHA is impacting our Houston community:
• 83,000 babies born in the Houston area each year will receive a mandatory newborn screening for congenital heart defects and other diseases
• 27,000 women received health information through our Go Red For Women and Vestido Rojo programs, materials and event
• 5 Houston-area communities have comprehensive smoke-free workplace ordinances
• More than 165,000 adults and teenagers have been trained with AHA guidelines, methods and materials in CPR, AED usage and basic lifesaving skills

As a member of the Guild, you will help the AHA continue to make a difference in our community for you, your family, friends and loved ones.
The Guild will once again support the AHA in the 2017 – 2018 year by raising funds and awareness through events like the 2019 Heart Ball, 2019 Shop With Heart Card and 2019 Go Red for Women Luncheon.
