In 2017, while working on a project at O’Connell High School, Shanna Pennington’s life changed forever. At age 53 she never thought that she would experience a stroke.
By knowing the signs and symptoms of a stroke, Shanna’s husband was able to act quickly and she received lifesaving intervention. Two years later, Shanna has rallied back and as our survivor honoree will share her story at the 2019 Black Tie and Boots Heart Ball.
Your generosity enables the American Heart Association to fund groundbreaking research, develop guidelines to improve patient care and help people lower their risk factors for heart disease and stroke.
As long as stroke continues to be the nation’s Number 5 cause of death, the importance of the American Heart Association’s work will only grow. Please consider making a gift in honor of Shanna and the many others like her battling stroke and heart disease.
