2019 Montgomery County Go Red For Women

Dear Friend of Heart,  

To celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women Movement, some exciting changes are being made this year here in Montgomery County.  We are hosting the Go Red For Women Sweet 15 Celebration on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott in an non-luncheon style.  During the celebration we will showcase the accomplishments of this exciting movement while providing a fun-filled afternoon with dance moves led by Dancing With the Stars icon Val Chmerkovskiy, a heart-healthy cooking demonstration, heart-healthy activities and key note speaker, Connie Watt, J.J. Watt’s mother.  As a supporter of the Go Red Movement and understanding the importance of it, I am proud to chair this exciting event! 
 
Nearly one in three deaths are a result of heart-related illnesses, a rate that equates to one heart-related death every 80 seconds.  However, it doesn’t need to stay this way.  Nearly 80 percent of these illnesses are preventable.  That means we still have lots of work to do to encourage more women to understand their risks and to make healthy changes. Here’s the truth: only 17 percent of women know that heart disease is our number one risk. Let’s join together and raise awareness, helping save the lives of our mothers, sisters and friends.
