To kick off the 40th anniversary celebrations of the Paul "Bear" Bryant Awards, the American Heart Association is hosting an exclusive speaker series luncheon this fall at the Houstonian Hotel. This intimate event will feature former players of Coach Bryant, including Jackie Sherrill, Gene Stallings, and members of the legendary Junction Boys, sharing personal stories and reflections on Bryant's enduring legacy. Tables and individual tickets will be available for purchase, offering attendees a unique opportunity to engage with these football icons while supporting the AHA's mission to combat heart disease and stroke. This luncheon not only honors Coach Bryant's profound impact on college football but also serves as a meaningful prelude to the milestone anniversary of the awards that bear his name. Heart disease and stroke impact people in very personal, life-changing ways. Bold moves, and dedicated researchers and volunteers, have resulted in significant medical advancements over 100 years. We haven’t done it alone. We reach our goals working with organizations and individuals who share our vision for better health. Our campaigns unite supporters with a shared purpose to raise the critical funds we need to ensure our work continues. It's not just about the resources we give, the dollars we raise, or the fun we have. It's about the lives we can save, together. The Need is Clear Since the AHA’s founding in 1924, deaths from cardiovascular diseases have been cut in half. And yet, there are still so many lives to be saved. Recently, death rates have worsened, and equity gaps have widened. Solutions are not getting to the people who need them the most. We are committed to change that. 2028 Impact Goal Building on over 100 years of trusted leadership in cardiovascular and brain health, by 2028 the AHA will drive breakthroughs and implement proven solutions in science, policy and care for healthier people and communities. The greatest discoveries in health must reach people where they are.
